Reflection

This blog takes people through the 1940's and the 1950's to allow people to be informed of the roles of women and african americans in society. America has waves of oppression dating all the way back to the day the english settlers set foot on the New World. We have gone from religious persecution to persecuting the Indians then we took away citizens rights during the salem witch trials, during that time slavery was prominent. Somehow by resolving conflict with one minority group we turn to oppressing another. This cycle is very evident in the 1940's and 1950's in the 40's African Americans and women had more opportunities then ever thanks to WWII, but even though they were arising the Japanese Americans were oppressed due to the fear and paranoia state side. During the 1950's African Americans rose up and fought for their freedom while women were condemned to the kitchen.  American societies view on societal roles and expectations causes the conformists of society to oppress all who do not fit the criteria.
